Since growing up as a child in Los Angeles, CA, I have always been passionate about getting people healthy. I wondered what effect the smog in the air was having on my lungs.
I attended UCLA where I received my Bachelor's degree in Biology. I decided when I was a freshman that I wanted to be a physician to help people get well.
I attended medical school at the University of California San Francisco. I wondered why we were taught to treat disease, rather than get our patient's healthy and well. Why the total of information we were taught on nutrition was done in one hour!
Why are so many people sick with chronic illnesses (heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes) and cancer? I really loved my courses in physiology and pharmacology and decided to become an Anesthesiologist.
After graduating and completing my residency training in Anesthesia, I began noticing the high incidence of breast cancer in a county close to where I lived. With no apparent reason for this high rate of cancer, I knew there must be a reason for this occurring. I felt it must be something in the environment that was causing this high rate of disease.
